You are deprecated

Feb. 28th 2002 03:36:05

I spent a good portion (read: all) of today morphing my site from a hulking pile of deprecated tabular shit to what it is now, something that looks almost exactly the same, but is not a hulking pile of deprecated tabular shit. And who cares? No one; the opera users get to snicker that I had to work hard to create a similar effect that is easy to create in IE, and the mozilla users snicker even though their browser sucks; and K-Meleon losers cry because they are just using mozilla anyway. So what happens? My website works with everyones browser, and nobody's happy about it.

Holy Shit!

People who know me know that I am a junky when it comes to optical storage (cdrom) technology. Starting about 4 and a half or 5 years ago, I've been burning Cd's with the increasing quickness; starting on an old 2x Yamaha and 2x acer; skipping up in the world to a HP 8200i, which was one of the best drives of the era and in my humble opinion the best 4x drive (It was a Sony rebrand, and the last good HP drive), then going with the Teac 12x writer instead of the plextor, and less than a year later buying a LiteON 24x monster, which is still in service. (all of these drives were internal IDE for a PC, no USB no SCSI).

IRC idiots amuse me

Often in life, the inadequacy of others to form coherent thought results in fun for me! Take this, for example..

Those breasts were lethal weapons

Feb. 25th 2002 04:17:59

The stupidity of some people just never ceases to amuse me, even when the stupidity was a few weeks or months ago. Even still, this story is like something you think had happened, or you think might have happened, but never expected to see reported from an actual news source. Its the kind of story you tell your friends when you're bullshitting at approximately this time in the morning, "yo man this dude suffocated between this chicks breasts at a strip joint".. you never expect it to actual be reality.

Machina

Feb. 24th 2002 06:26:47

A two liter of mountain dew purchased via a friendly roomate facilitated me towards actually putting a small sample of what I want to put in the machina section. Truth be told, I would have named it tech, but then it'd be totally ripping off wei, and I figured I'd be latin about it. Anyway; I saw that section on his site and thought wow what a great Idea; a section of a website besides the "news" which is never anything in particular, that doesn't just sit and asphixiate on the server, never to be updated after its origional conception.

Midtown diner

Feb. 24th 2002 05:16:25

Why is midtown diner so convenient at 3 in the morning; and why do my clocks always seem like they are an hour ahead. I think I will ponder this mystery tomorow.

Tenamonya voyajasu

Feb. 23rd 2002 23:43:36

While watching some anime ironically entitled Tenamonya Voyagers, I decided to continue building the script to see if i could work the indexing in like I wanted to. I did a lot of manipulation on the origional HTML manually, and on some of the extra save files that I make (of different parts of the html), so that I had a clear image in my mind of what the source for the result I wanted would look like; and then I coded it from there. This has been pretty fun; I hope that it all works according to plan the first time I do it. After all, theres no reason why it shouldn't.

Script finished

Feb. 23rd 2002 23:36:32

My news update script is finished. At least, with this post as a test, it will be finished. I know that this is a lot of garbage for testing, and I might get rid of this post or replace it with something else later.

Finality of structure

Feb. 23rd 2002 19:04:45

I actually finished the basic structure of the site; although I still have some greater plans for this Rant section; kinda want to make it act like the links section in the way of internal link indexing; so that not necessarily anyone else, but more myself, could reach different posts to see just what the hell I was thinking.

Originality, what's that?

Feb. 23rd 2002 05:33:57

Because I lack any and all skills, and I like the format of the SIT anime club page news section, I'm going to eventually try to add (into the script of course) functionality that will index all of the dates times and put a name's on them so you can access each post from a link at the top. This might be more applicable to do for just once a day; since adding a post is so simple I'd probably write a few small rants rather than one large one per day, but the only problem is by doing that the script would become vastly more complex.

One last little tweak

Feb. 23rd 2002 05:04:34

The spacing should be fixed after this tweak.

The script is almost finished

Feb. 23rd 2002 05:01:32

As the title of this news post suggests; the script seems to be totally working. I'll tweak it a little so that it creates some base files for me to work off of; it was a bit of a hack getting the news title in there working; and once I have that I should have a very easy time writing these updates.
